Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media also a speaker who is Canadian. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic that has received accolades for her work. She is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency explores how women are represented in the popular media. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her main focus. But, she also highlights issues related to targeted harassment against women online and other minorities which have been left out. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the field of political and social thought from York University. As a public speaker, she's extremely sought-after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was interested in the gender issue and feminist movements since a young stage of her life. When she graduated in 2009, continuing to study at the university level, she created her Feminist Frequency site. In 2009, the ambitious young woman was targeted by the Internet for starting a web series on gender in videogames. The attack did not stop her, but instead strengthened her resolve as an activist for women in media. As a result of the many accomplishments she's made to feminist movements, she has been awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her work as a critic of the media, and she founded Feminist Frequency. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit organization that examines how women are depicted in pop culture today.
